High strength, not prone to blade breakage
This is its most prominent advantage. During cutting, stress will concentrate on the sharp corners of the tool tip. The sharp corners of flat end milling cutters are very fragile and prone to cracking when processing hard materials or high feed rates.
The round nose milling cutter replaces fragile sharp corners with circular arcs, dispersing stress throughout the entire circular arc area, greatly improving the strength and durability of the tool tip, and extending the tool life.
Good surface quality during processing
When using a flat end milling cutter, the feed of the tool will leave obvious "step like" tool marks on the machined surface.
The rounded corner transition of the round nose milling cutter makes the cutting paths smoother, effectively reducing these tool marks and achieving better surface smoothness than flat end milling cutters. Sometimes, it can even reduce the workload of subsequent polishing.
Strong universality
It can not only perform side milling (milling straight walls) and surface milling (milling flat surfaces) functions of flat end milling cutters, but also imitate ball end milling cutters for shallow surface machining and some corner shaping.
