The family of edge trimming knives is vast, and according to the shape of the processed edges, they are mainly divided into the following categories:
1. Rounded edge trimming knife
Shape: The blade is a quarter circle.
Purpose: Polish sharp 90 degree right angled edges into smooth rounded edges. This is the most commonly used one, which can not only prevent collision and injury, but also improve the product's feel and aesthetics. There are different models based on the radius of the arc (R angle).
2. Chamfering and trimming knife
Shape: The blade has a slanted cross-section.
Purpose: To create a 45 degree (or other angle) sloping surface at the edge. Commonly used for decoration or preparation for subsequent splicing (such as making photo frames).
3. Lace/line trimming knife
Shape: The blade shape is complex and diverse, such as Roman column, duckbill edge, wavy edge, flower crown edge, etc.
Purpose: To add complex classical or decorative edges to furniture door panels, mirror frames, decorative lines, etc. It is a key tool for enhancing product added value.
4. Bottom cleaning/straight edge trimming knife
Shape: The blade is straight.
Purpose: Strictly speaking, it is not mainly used to modify the appearance, but to precisely trim the edges to match the template, or to trim the edges of laminated boards (such as cabinet door panels).
5. Combination trimming knife (e.g. rounded corner+straight edge)
Shape: It integrates two functions, such as milling a straight edge step first and then adding a rounded corner.
Purpose: To complete two steps of operation in one go, improving efficiency.
